Don't Let Anyone See You Sweat: Hosting and Surviving Your First Sleepover As a Parent

As a parent, your child will test you in a number of ways. Some days you may feel like you love your child but you don’t necessarily like them, we mean you wouldn’t pick them first for dodgeball. And other days, you are bending over backward to show them just how cool you really are. The annual sleepover is one of those days that you show them that you really are still a kid at heart. Except, now you have a mortgage and car payment to go along with those cartoons and gummy bears. We know this stuff is hard, so we are here to make sure you have a fighting chance.

Bring Out the Selk’bags

You have to really commit to the sleepover. There is no such thing as a kind of sleepover or a maybe sleepover. Those don’t exist. So pull out the Selk’bags at the start of the night. Actually, scratch that! Have them waiting at the door for each guest when they walk into the house. No exceptions! They are warm, comfy, insulated, and have removable hands. Your guests are going to need all of those things at some point during the night.

Keep the Juice Boxes Flowing

Outside of a Selk’bag, there is nothing more rewarding to kids than endless juice boxes! Grape, apple, lime, lemonade… bring all of it! If it ends with juice, then you need it at this sleepover. This will not only keep the guests hydrated but it will keep everyone happy if anything else goes wrong during the night. T.V. doesn’t start? Hand your guests a juice box and all is fine.

Keep the Rules to a Minimum

No one goes to a sleepover to have someone else’s parent tell them exactly what their parents could tell them to do at home. That is not really fun and most kids may just decide to call it an early night and head home. Aside from a quick rundown of safety rules keep things light and fun.

Size Chart

Kids (Ages 7+)

Please note, Selk'bag Kids models are intended for children ages 7 years and older.

A proper fit is essential to fully enjoying all the Selk'bag has to offer and for ensuring the safety of your child.  A bag that is too large for your child can represent a tripping risk when your child attempts to walk in the bag.

Please note, that the sizing recommendations are meant for children of average weight as sizing is impacted by user weight.  For example, a Selk'bag will fit a child of below average weight with a taller frame, similar to a child of average weight and a shorter frame. Likewise, a person of above average weight will require a bag meant for someone taller.

Kids Medium:
Minimum Height: 4'0"  / 122 cm
Maximum Height: 4'6" / 137 cm

Kids Large: *
Minimum Height: 4'6"    / 137 cm
Maximum Height: 4'11" / 150 cm

* Please note, Kids size Large is significantly less wide than the Adult size Small.  An adult that measures between 4'6" and 4'11" should use the Adult Small over Kids Large.

Adult

A proper fit is essential to fully enjoying all the Selk'bag has to offer.  Please note, that the sizing recommendations are meant for people of average weight and sizing is impacted by user weight.  For example, a Selk'bag will fit a person of below average weight with a taller frame that exceeds the guidelines.  Likewise, a person of above average weight will require a bag meant for someone taller.

In-between sizes?  Please first consider the weight recommendations in the previous paragraph.  Second, please understand that a looser fit is better for more comfortable sleeping, while a tighter fit is better for mobility - but may restrict sleeping comfort if booties are left on.

We always recommend to size up if you are not completely sure. It's better to have a little bit more room while using your Selk'bag!
